Seoul has proposed a bilateral trade and investment framework between Bangladesh and South Korea to bolster business ties. South Korean commerce officials presented the idea during a meeting with the Bangladesh Ambassador in Seoul. This proposal has been communicated to the Bangladesh Commerce Ministry for further action.
The envisioned agreement is expected to foster comprehensive economic cooperation and allow both countries to benefit from sector-specific agreements and future collaboration. South Korea has previously entered into similar frameworks with seven other countries. Currently, Bangladesh enjoys duty-free, quota-free access to certain markets under the World Trade Organization’s generalized system of preference (GSP). Bilateral trade between Bangladesh and South Korea has already surpassed $3 billion.
