Standard Chartered Bangladesh and BASA Foundation have partnered to promote sustainable agriculture and apiculture. The collaboration, backed by a Tk2.9 crore investment from the bank, aims to support local honey producers and entrepreneurs in the honey-related products market.
The initiative focuses on enhancing food hygiene, safety, and sustainable mechanization while safeguarding pollination. The project’s core goals include educating 800 honey farmers, building income generation capacity, and enhancing the marketability of honey products. Standard Chartered emphasizes the positive impact of apiculture investment on agriculture, biodiversity, and livelihoods.
BASA Foundation sees the collaboration as an opportunity to contribute more to marginalized communities. The project includes providing equipment, branding support, and forward market linkages for participants. Standard Chartered’s long-term commitment to Bangladesh’s growth aligns with its community engagement and sustainability initiatives, while BASA Foundation focuses on improving the quality of life for distressed communities through various development efforts.
