Standard Chartered Bangladesh and BRAC have joined forces to support 350 fishermen in the Sundarbans region, aiming to improve their livelihoods. The initiative involves supplying essential equipment like boats and nets to small-scale fishermen who lack access to such resources. This assistance empowers these individuals to gain control over their income sources.
The project includes 10 large engine-powered boats and nets for deep-sea fishing, which is crucial for catching Hilsha fish. Additionally, 50 small boats and nets are provided for fishing in the mangrove forest area, targeting white fish. CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of helping these communities, as they often struggle with poverty and limited resources. This initiative aims to alleviate their financial burdens and provide greater independence.
