Standard Chartered Bangladesh and Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital (IIEI&H) have partnered to establish 71 Eye Health Camps for adults and 1,667 Student Sight Testing Programmes (SSTP) for school children, according to UNB. This initiative will benefit 10,000 adults in Dhaka and 250,000 students across Naogaon, Jamalpur, Barishal, Borguna, and Moulvibazar.
The programme includes transportation for surgery patients and provides beneficiaries with eyewear, optics, and essential medicines. Building on a 20-year collaboration, the partnership aims to prevent avoidable blindness and address the needs of marginalised groups. It focuses on expanding services through technology and infrastructure investments while upskilling eye-health workers to improve access to quality eye care in underserved communities.
