Standard Chartered Bangladesh has partnered with the Bidyanondo Foundation to launch a plastic exchange program aiming to promote recycling and sustainability, benefiting approximately 82,000 individuals. The initiative will establish 65 plastic exchange camps where community members can trade plastic waste for essential commodities such as rice and oil. This approach not only incentivizes recycling but also improves livelihoods. The collected plastic will be recycled into rPET bottles, aligning with Standard Chartered’s commitment to sustainability and creating a circular economy. The program anticipates recycling nearly 227 metric tonnes of plastic, addressing environmental concerns at a grassroots level. By encouraging community engagement in recycling, the initiative aims to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainable living. Standard Chartered emphasizes its role in mitigating plastic waste issues and supporting community welfare through this collaboration with Bidyanondo Foundation, highlighting the importance of social awareness and collective action in environmental conservation.
