Sweden is supporting the 5.8 million flood-affected individuals in eastern Bangladesh with $1.85 million (Tk 22.2 crore) in humanitarian assistance, channeled through organizations like the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Islamic Relief, Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and Action Against Hunger (AAH). This aid will provide nearly 95,000 people with essentials such as food, shelter, and access to education, enabling 5,800 children to return to school. Specific initiatives include cash grants, hygiene kits, and agricultural inputs for thousands of households, as well as infrastructure repair efforts in the affected areas. Additionally, Sweden’s flexible funding allowed the World Food Programme to quickly deliver critical food aid to over 130,000 people. Sweden’s total humanitarian contribution to Bangladesh for 2024 now stands at $12.2 million (Tk 146 crore).
