The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has set a target of cultivating T-Aman rice on 1,11,000 hectares in the current Kharip-2 season, aiming for the production of 3,32,194 tonnes in the district. The target distribution is as follows: 31,000 hectares in Jamalpur Sadar, 15,210 hectares in Sarishabari, 17,060 hectares in Melandah, 10,730 hectares in Islampur, 8,655 hectares in Dewanganj, 15,110 hectares in Madarganj, and 13,235 hectares in Bakshiganj. As of July 2, farmers have prepared T-Aman seed beds on 1,100 hectares. In an effort to increase food production, 8,000 small and marginal farmers in all seven upazilas of the district have received incentives in the form of high-yielding variety (HYV) seeds and fertilizers. Each farmer received 5 kilograms of Aush paddy seed, 10 kilograms of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, and 10 kilograms of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer for free, along with 4,000 farmers receiving high-breed variety seeds. Deputy Director Zakia Sultana stated that the distribution of incentives is ongoing, and the preparation of T-Aman seed beds is in progress to support food production.
