TCB starts serving 1 Crore families

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh, which is owned by the state, has started selling essential goods to 10 million low-income families across the country at discounted prices from Sunday, 14 May,2023. The program is expected to be launched at 10 a.m. in Badda area of the capital by the Minister of Commerce, Tipu Munshi.

According to a TCB spokesperson, Humayun Kabir, the trucks’ locations and distribution schedules will be communicated to the beneficiaries, who hold family cards, one day before distribution.

22-carat Gold Price Drops by Tk 1,283 per Bhori

Recently, the Bangladesh Jeweller's Association decreased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,283 per bhori, setting it at Tk 1,17,176. The price of 21-carat gold is now Tk 1,11,846 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk 95,866 per bhori, and traditional method gold is Tk 79,256. However, buyers should note that a 5% VAT and a 6% making charge will be added to the fixed price by Bajus. In the month of May, the gold price has been raised six times and reduced twice by the apex body of gold traders.
