Bangladesh’s tea exports jumped 57.55% in 2024, reaching 2.45 million kilograms and generating Tk45.96 crore in revenue. This marks a strong recovery from previous years when export volumes had dropped below 1 million kgs. Key export destinations include Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, and the US. Despite the volume growth, the average export price fell to Tk187.58 per kg—down from the Tk250–260 range in 2021–2023. However, early 2025 data shows improvement, with the average price rebounding to Tk256.26 per kg. With domestic auctions fetching Tk170–190 per kg, exporters see a Tk40–50/kg advantage in targeting export markets. The Tea Board aims to boost production to 103 million kgs in 2025, while industry leaders urge stronger collaboration to scale exports up to 10 million kgs.
