Teesta Solar Ltd, Bangladesh’s largest solar power facility, has contributed around 443.8 million units of electricity to the national grid in 15 months. Situated in Gaibandha’s Sundarganj upazila, the 200 MW plant spans 650 acres and boasts 550,000 solar panels. It operates without fuel costs until 2043. Financed partly through Beximco’s Sukuk Bonds, the project represents a shift towards cleaner energy. The majority of its technology comes from China. The project’s success with green sukuk financing could inspire similar ventures, attracting investors and promoting local entrepreneurship in renewable energy.
