Expatriate income to Bangladesh surged in fiscal year 2023-24, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) leading at $291 million, followed by the United Kingdom. Conversely, Saudi Arabia and the United States witnessed a decline, with Saudi Arabia contributing $179 million and the US $168 million. Analysts attribute the increase in income from the UAE to rising incentives and growing business activities, while the drop in income from Saudi Arabia is linked to a lack of employment opportunities for migrants. Despite challenges, stakeholders aim to streamline legal channels to ensure sustained growth in expatriate income.
