Arif Quadri has officially resigned from his role as managing director and CEO of United Commercial Bank (UCB). His resignation follows his absence from the office since the ousting of the Awami League government on August 5. Syed Faridul Islam, UCB’s additional managing director, will serve as the managing director (in charge) temporarily. Quadri, currently residing in Canada, had been with UCB since December 2021. The resignation comes after the central bank dissolved UCB’s 18-member board on August 28 and appointed a new five-member board. Sharif Zahir, chairman of National Finance and managing director of Ananta Group, has been appointed as a shareholder director on the new board.
