The UK is providing €30,000 (Tk 45 million) in humanitarian aid to support flood-affected communities in Sylhet, Bangladesh, where over three million people are impacted, and 260,000 are displaced. Managed by START Fund Bangladesh and implemented by Caritas Bangladesh, this aid will offer cash assistance, clean drinking water, and sanitation supplies, complementing the Bangladesh government’s relief efforts. Additionally, the UK contributes to global humanitarian funds like the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) and the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), which are collectively providing €5.9 million (Tk 895 million) for food, water, sanitation, shelter, health support, and cash assistance to flood victims in northern Bangladesh. British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke emphasized the UK’s commitment to supporting the affected populations. The current flooding impacts over 14.8 million people across Bangladesh.
