The United Kingdom (UK) will provide £500,000, equivalent to Tk7.5 crore, as crucial humanitarian aid to communities affected by Cyclone Remal in southwestern Bangladesh. The support aims to assist the 800,000 displaced individuals in districts including Bagerhat, Satkhira, Khulna, Bhola, Pirojpur, and Patuakhali. This aid, managed by Start Fund Bangladesh and executed by organizations such as Christian Aid and Action Aid, will prioritize vulnerable groups like women and children. Additionally, the UK contributes to global humanitarian funds, including UNICEF’s Today and Tomorrow Initiative and the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund, with a total support of £5.8 million (Tk87.6 crores) for Cyclone Remal relief efforts. This assistance includes aiding over 30,000 people in temporarily relocating to secure shelters and providing essential supplies like food, hygiene kits, and medical assistance.
