The UK is extending €4.5 million in humanitarian aid to assist Rohingya refugees and host communities in Bangladesh. The announcement was made by UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, during a UNHCR conference on the Rohingya crisis in Bangkok. The UK remains committed to finding a long-term solution to the crisis, including the safe and dignified return of Rohingya to Myanmar when conditions allow.
In the interim, the UK’s support focuses on protection services, healthcare, and clean energy for the refugees. The funding package includes contributions through the International Organization for Migration (IOM), NGOs, and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) to address gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health. The UK has provided substantial aid to Rohingya refugees and host communities in Bangladesh and Myanmar since 2017, covering essential services like food, water, healthcare, and protection.
