The Universal Health Care Program, launched in 2016 to provide free comprehensive health care to the poor, aimed to cover all poor communities by 2032. However, less than 1% of the population has received this service in the last eight years, as per the progress report from the Health Economics Unit.
Universal Health Protection Day will be celebrated with the theme “Health for All.” The Ministry of Health has initiated the Health Protection Program (SSK) to provide medical assistance to families below the poverty line. The SSK implementation began in 2016 in several upazilas and is ongoing in 16 upazilas of six districts.
The plan aims to provide health protection cards to 3 crore 17 lakh 57 thousand poor people by 2032, ensuring quality health care, reducing out-of-pocket payments, and covering the costs of tests and medicines for 110 diseases. Both external and internal services are provided in the hospital through this project.
