The US, through USAID, is committing an additional $87 million in humanitarian aid to support Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox’s Bazar. Collaborating with the World Food Programme (WFP), the funding will address critical needs, including food and nutrition assistance, infrastructure maintenance, disaster risk reduction, and support for self-reliance and livelihoods.
The aid encompasses electronic vouchers for staple and fresh foods, along with feeding programs for malnourished children and pregnant or lactating women. The US, a prominent contributor to Rohingya crisis relief, has provided nearly $2.4 billion since the violence outbreak in 2017, with almost $1.9 billion dedicated to aiding Rohingya refugees and host communities in Bangladesh.
