The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant’s (RNPP) unit-1 achieved a significant milestone as the ventilation stack was successfully installed in the reactor building’s designated position. The 67-meter long and 100-ton weight structure was installed by Rosatom, the Russian contractor for the project, using a powerful crane, and the process took 8 hours to complete. The ventilation stack is crucial for removing excessive heat and moisture from the reactor compartment. With this installation, the reactor building has reached an elevation of +99.500, surpassing all other structures except the 175-meter evaporation cooling towers. The Rooppur NPP project in Bangladesh, under Russian design, consists of two units with a total capacity of 2,400 MWe. The first unit’s construction is expected to be completed by June 2024.
