In fiscal year 2022-23, Walton Hi-tech Industries faced a significant decline in sales and profits, attributing the challenges to the sluggish macroeconomic situation driven by the Russia-Ukraine war. Sales plummeted by Tk 1,531 crore, a 19 percent decrease, reaching Tk 6,637 crore, while profits fell by Tk 434 crore, marking a 36 percent drop to Tk 782 crore.
Earnings per share saw a substantial decline from Tk 40.16 to Tk 25.84. The company cited the war’s impact on global economies, leading to a rise in the price of the US dollar and a severe crisis of US dollars in Bangladesh. Foreign exchange losses escalated by 54 percent, reaching Tk 469 crore.
Despite declines in sales of fridges, televisions, and home appliances, air conditioner sales rose by 39 percent to Tk 646 crore. The company remains cautiously optimistic about the future, considering ongoing challenges.
