Bangladesh and the World Bank have entered a $300 million financing pact to empower around 900,000 economically disadvantaged rural youths, including 60% females, with skills and alternative education for employability and entrepreneurship. The Economic Acceleration and Resilience for NEET (EARN) Project will establish vocational training centers, offering market-driven skills development and vocational secondary education, particularly for dropouts. Online and offline training will be provided, focusing on modern trades and female inclusion. Seed financing and mentorship for entrepreneurship will also be offered. The project aims to address exclusion driven by cultural and social norms, aligning with Bangladesh’s development goals. Around 27% of Bangladeshi youths, mainly rural females, are classified as NEET.
