The World Bank (WB) will provide an additional $30 million to enhance power transmission in Cumilla, Chattogram, and Noakhali. The funding will support an ongoing project aimed at improving electricity supply and meeting rising demand. Initially, a $450.64 million agreement was signed in 2018, but $50 million was reallocated for COVID-19 relief efforts. The new loan will have a five-year grace period and a 30-year repayment plan, with an interest rate of 1.25%. WB has waived the commitment charge for this year.
