The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has decided to extend Bangladesh’s $4.7-billion loan programme by six months until December 2026. This follows the agreement to provide an additional $750 million to address ongoing macroeconomic challenges. Bangladesh will receive $645 million in the fourth tranche of the loan, with $80 million from the additional fund added to each of the upcoming three instalments scheduled for May and October next year, and May 2026. The remaining $670 million will be disbursed by the extended programme’s end.
